If We Can Do It You Can Do It

Yesterday California Governor Gavin Newsome said he doesn't see sports returning to our state until November. What if that's true? What will your club do to help your players for the next six months?

The big clubs have leaned into this problem and are doing a great job of churning out training sessions, coaching education, and other fancy solutions. But what about the little clubs? Are we going to be left behind as usual? If what I'm seeing continues the rich will get richer and in six months the rest of us will be left scrambling to try and put all the pieces back together.

My guess is that clubs that aren't doing much for their players right now fall into one of two categories. Or maybe both.

  1. They think this is a 30 day problem and we will be back to normal in May. AND/OR

  2. As someone once said they are letting perfect get in the way of starting.

We need to hope for the best but plan for the worst. That means we need to get started now on creating a plan for helping our players. I'm not talking about posting videos on your social media of them training on their own, doing team challenges, or posting wishful pictures of the good old days. I'm talking about making a real difference in their development.

Futsal209 is a very small club. We have almost no resources. However, we didn't let perfect get in the way of starting to help our players. If we can do it you can do it! This post isn't meant to be a pat on the back. We want you to know we believe in the innovation that happens at small clubs like yours. We all have a responsibility to help our players. Let's do it!

We are happy to share what we have done and help you do the same in your club. Just email me at futsal209@centralvalleyfutsal.com. We would also love to hear your ideas if you are willing to share.
